Ankor Wat
The Jewels of the East from eternal past to present.
The ruins of Ankor located in Cambodia is the largest cultural heritage in the Southeast Asia. The site, sometimes covered by the deep forests or secluded by war, is now reborn and conserved by the effort of many people. In 1992, it was registered as a World Heritage site.
Since the establishment of the Ankor Dynasty by the Khmer people in the 6th century, Hinduism and Buddhism art prospered for 600 years, and successive kings have built magnificent temples to worship gods and Buddha. Ankor Wat, which is among the most prominent, was built built for the king Suryavarman II in the early 12th century. Its magnificencecontinue to fascinate people around the world.
This exhibition aims to introduce the charm of the site, by exhibiting the representative works of Ankor art, including the masterpieces owned by the Phnom Penh National Museum, and also the famous "Discovery of the Century" Busddhist statues recently excavated in Banteay Kdei site by Sophia University which have renewed our knowledge of the history of Ankor Dynasty.

【Part 3 Pray for Peace - Myth living in people, art, and heart- 】
The World Heritage sites speak volumes about birth and death, time and space, and nature and humans.
What do the remaining archaeological sites tell us? To think about Ankor Wat is to think about the people who made it and prayed to it. Archaeological sites continue to exist with us in the present, and not only in the past. The final section of the exhibit will show that Ankor Wat is still alive today, and introduces the life of the people who still pray to it.
